Here is what guests had to say...
"Absolutely fantastic value for money! Bert is a great host, knowledgeable about the area and sincere! The rooms are very clean and very comfortable! Breakfast is top class - One can see and enjoy the fruits of a talented and experience chef. Everything is so fresh and genuine, nothing pre-fabricated or frozen purchased, all home cooking, yummy. This lodging establishment is above expectations and much more than a motel! However, the homemade pizza did the trick after a long day on the pistes!
Certainly recommend and am eager to return
Norman Rockwell’s New England
It takes about 3 – 31/2 hours drive to the town best known for its famous citizen.
As I stroll along the Battenkill River, well known to fisherman practicing their fly fishing skills and since the restoration of the river banks providing brush and shade as well as sheltered areas for the young trout, the fishing has gotten to almost the level as in the “0ld Times”. In the distance the hills are green and lush and provide a blazing spectacle of fall colors. Just the timing can be tricky, for Mother Nature has her own calendar.
The town is sleepy and quaint, taking time to get used to when accustomed to a bustling city. Now is the time to take a deep breath and realize the quality of good air, and again and again, until one gets to the local pace.
There is nothing wrong with slowing down and let life catch up with yourself, just give it a try.
Quaint shops all family owned and products from local productions skirt the main street.
The lodging facilities offer a wide range of services and price. Starting with the local five stars Resort, where the ones have to stay that need to keep up with the “Joneses”, to historic buildings, once a rich person’s weekend getaway, then later sold by the heirs and turned into a Bed and Breakfast by an entrepreneurial person.
The next level is a high quality of Lodges and Motels; one should develop a new category, for they are a big cut above the standard roadside motel and deserving to be checked out. Again all family owned and operated with great care and pride.
Individualism is shown in their level of services. The Arcady at Sunderland is owned and operated by a former hotel executive and chef and he takes great pride to produce most of his wares for breakfast” in-house”.
The feeling of “true care” is reflected everywhere. You will see the owner involved in all aspects of the operation of the INN
New England has its charm and Vermont is unique and worth the trip.
When you leave this area, you will feel a little loss in your heart but the desire to return will quickly set in.
